Step #2 – Reuse

In step #1, I mentioned about recycle and it is the simplest activity. But there is even better – Reuse.

Why it is better?
Remember recycle materials has to go through the process of converting the material to raw-material for use. In turn, the process of recycling itself uses energy.
Reuse – eliminates that extra energy requirement.

Buying durable material and using it to its life is an very effective solution.
A re-usable grocery bag is better than recycling grocery bags.

These simple solutions can save you money and save the planet.

Step #1 – Recycle

One of the simplest solution to green problem – Recycle.
Recycle is the process of processing used materials and using it in the process of new material manufacturing.  This process of recycling material, reduces what otherwise would end up in landfill.

Since recycling involves special processing, not all township/municipality has the facility to recycle all material.  Your first step is to find out what your township/municipality can recycle.  Once identified, now it is time to get dirty.

Have two trash cans in the house, allocate one for recycle material and another one for rubbish trash.  As you plan to ‘trash’ something, see whether any part of it is recyclable.  Most of the plastics, papers, etc are easily recyclable, when you find an item that can be recycled, put that in the recycle trash can.  It takes a little effort, but it makes a good practice.

Earth Day 2009

Today, Earth Day is celebrated all across the Earth and Beyond.
If you have not taken a resolution for this New Year, may be this is another opportunity to get a resolution in plan.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to very simple activities that you can take in order to keep our Earth a safe place for the future.  I am not asking you to buy a Hybrid or walk to your work, but will try to give easy tips that you can follow.
